Oilskin Hat
Aussie Hats
This is just the hat for fisherman, boaters, or anyone that spends any time on or near the water. Made of a super light weight supplex material, the Outback Floater has floatational material in the crown that lets it float on water - no more sinking hats!
You'll get great protection from the sun with the generous 3 1/4 inch brim with a 4 1/2" crown, and you'll stay cool due to the mesh band around the crown. A double chin strap that goes both under the chin and behind the head will keep the hat in place even in stiff winds. Plus, the hat fully collapses so that you can easily stow it in a backpack or bag.
Comes in black or light green, in sizes small through extra large
Down Under Hat Information
Waterproof and good looking, our best selling hat. Snow, rain, sleet - bring it on, this hat can take it. Suitable for riding or general use, this hat is the perfect match to our oilskin coats and jackets.
Construction
~ This legendary oilskin hat may be the toughest 100% waterproof ever built. The 16 oz. oilskin fabric is finely woven, then double-oiled and waxed for additional rain, wind and snow protection. Similar in look to the Western duster coat, the Australian Oilskin coat has been developed over two centuries, from it's humble beginning as the monsoon cape used by the sailors of the great oceans, to the pioneering drovers of today. Continually battling the harsh elements of the Australian Outback, they developed a rugged outback style of clothing to protect them from the cold and drenching rain.
Our Down Under hat fabric is made of a tightly woven cloth that is impregnated with a hot solution of specialized oils and waxes to ensure maximum snow, wind and rain protection. Unlike many synthetics, it has a very natural feel and excellent breathability. Oilskin is your ideal choice when looking for a riding coat, duster, work coat or just looking good. Rest assured, our products will keep you warm and dry!
Please note: When new, oilskin may have some light oil surface residue from the manufacturing process. This is normal and will evaporate over time. If you wish to speed up the process you can use a hair dryer. Oilskin garments can be cleaned by hosing them off and hanging up to dry. Lightly use a damp sponge for spots or heavy dirt. Do not machine wash or dry clean
A great value, continually battling the harsh elements of the Aussie outback, the frontier demanded a waterproof, comfortable - without saying, "tough as nails" hat.Outback Proven &Tested ! Available in Black or Brown.
